The HEA Hesed Society (Caring
Committee)
Hesed means "loving-kindness." Performing acts of hesed is one of
the foundations of Jewish life. We care about our fellow
congregants.
The Hesed Program helps members in need through acts of loving-
kindness. Assistance for the sick and homebound, elderly, bereaved,
and new parents is provided by cooking and delivering meals. All
members are warmly encouraged to take part with whatever time
commitment they can afford and fulfill the mitzvah of caring for
one's neighbors.
The HEA Hesed Society has two major programs:
- Providing Meals
Providing meals to those who are sick or injured, bereaved, or
new parents. Members volunteer to join the cooking list, and are
contacted to cook a meal as needed.
>> If you are interested in
becoming a Hesed cook
please contact Joyce Perlmutter.
- Shabbat Calls to our Elder Congregants
Shabbat callers are assigned one (or more if desired)
of our members who are over the age of 80, to call every week to
wish them a Shabbat Shalom and to let them know that their
synagogue is thinking of them.
>> If you are interested in
becoming a Shabbat caller
please contact Cari Friedman.
>> To become involved, please contact
Joyce Perlmutter at the synagogue office.
Also let her know
about members of the congregation who are ill, have recently had a
new baby, or have lost a loved one. The committee will be happy to
offer assistance.
