Summer 2010

Welcome Pam Wojahn!
Pam was born and raised in Denver. Growing up, she attended services and events at Temple Emanuel and BMH. Pam is retired from working for the state in the physics lab at C.U. Denver.

Pam joined the Alliance because it “feels right to her; and it feels like home.” She also likes the “professionalism of the synagogue staff and the spirit that they bring.” She is currently a regular at Shabbat morning services, and she hopes to attend the weekly class during the Musaf Service. She has completed a crash course in Hebrew reading and wants to continue her Hebrew studies and learn the structure and the chanting of the Shabbat morning service. Pam has been participating in Sisterhood and the Boomer Connection group. She loves Jewish art, and she has experience in architecture and jewelry design.

We welcome Pam to the Alliance community!

Welcome Weinstein Family!

The Weinsteins joined the Alliance community last August after living for nine years in New York City where Jonathon and Elena did medical training in their specialties. The Weinstein family have three children, Hannah (9), Samantha (7), and Josh (5) all of whom attend the Denver Jewish Day School (formally called Herzl).
Elena grew up in Atlanta, and Jonathan grew up in Montreal. They were active members of Temple Israel in White Plains, NY. There, they were involved in a havurah, and Federation. Two years ago, they were chosen to participate in the Wexner Heritage Program which involved intensive Jewish adult education and leadership training. They met many of the Wexner participants from Denver, and this has made their transition to their new home in Denver an easy and pleasant one.
The Weinsteins keep a kosher home and expect to be very involved in synagogue activities. They found the Alliance community welcoming and “kid-friendly,” two qualities most important to them in a synagogue.

We welcome the Weinsteins to Denver and to the Alliance community!

Welcome Mor Family!
Rikki and Alon Mor have lived in Denver since 2002. Their three lovely daughters attended BMH preschool and now attend Herzl. Riki grew up in Omaha and was very involved in the Jewish community there. She and her family were active members of their synagogue and Jewish youth group activities. Her father served as president of the congregation. Riki now works full time with Allied Insurance.

Alon grew up in Israel. He found his way to Omaha while his father was a visiting Israeli scholar at the university there. During and after college, Alon worked in the Jewish community at the Union for Reform Judaism camp Olin-Sang-Ruby in Wisconsin. He also worked as an advisor and regional director for BBYO. Alon now works as a partner in the Panera Bread/Garbanzo corporation.

Ricki and Alon met in Omaha and have been married for 14 years.

Ricki and Alon love the energy they find at the Alliance. They have many friends in the congregation, and they are looking forward to working with Habitat for Humanity project. They are deeply committed to Jewish education and involvement for their children, and they are both interested in learning more about their people and their faith.

We welcome the Mors to Denver and to the Alliance community!

Welcome Norden Family!
Leila and Josh Norden both grew up in Denver and have been married for six years. Josh is a computer maven, and he is studying Electrical Engineering at CU Denver. Leila works for Denver Options, a non-profit that directs people with special needs to the appropriate Denver agencies. They first connected with the Alliance when their daughter, Nola, entered the HEA preschool. Nola is four years old.

The Nordens enjoy attending the Nashira service and look forward to learning more Hebrew.

They are a wonderful addition to our Alliance family.

We welcome the Nordens to Denver and to the Alliance community!
